Chapter seventeen

Kaia

Ji-Tae and Andreas left almost a week ago, to meet up with Vicente and to get some items Dre needs, and I miss them, even with the sexy as hell men who surround me. Time with Kir, Wolf, and Rafe is a big upgrade from being without them in the underground facility I was stuck at.

Rafe runs around like Jax never shot him in the back. He and Wolf now work out together and laugh at each other’s weak-ass jokes. Thank goodness they haven’t turned them on me. They seem to have left ‘screw with Kaia’ time to Kir. There’s more to it, though. Wolf glances at Rafe with concern in his eyes. He’s taken it upon himself to be Rafe’s guardian. I’m glad they’ve become close, but it’s still so new to me. Our entire family is new, and we all need time to adjust to it.

As for Wolf and me, it’s like we’ve gone right back to the same type of relationship we had before, but without the secrecy and lies. It’s always been natural with us, and it still is, despite the shit he put us through.

It’s beginning to feel like we’re living in a happy bubble. I’m learning to trust, not just the guys, but to trust that everything will work out in the end. I also know I’m with the right men. And they’re quickly stealing my heart.

Wolf and Rafe already have it, but Dre, Ji-Tae, and Kir found their own places in my heart. I know this isn’t the exact plan Rafe has and that Dre and Ji-Tae aren’t here, but it’s quickly becoming the way I want to live.

The four of us have developed a routine over the last few days. Normal family tasks are seamless for us. We work together to get it done, which usually results in hilarity and a lot of dancing.

Kir likes to juggle our food as he preps it. Wolf and Rafe try everything they can to get him to drop whatever he has in the air, but he’s no slouch and has impressive control.

Wolf sings and dances when he makes a meal. Rafe and I have worked in the kitchen together with Lorena for a long time, so we toss ingredients to each other without having to be asked. More often than not, we ditch our tasks and shake our booties all over the kitchen.

Tonight, Kir and I are at the sink washing dishes when he turns the faucet on me, spraying me full on in the face. Rafe and Wolf crack up at my expense, of course. They have the same sense of humor, and I’m sure they’ll direct it at me most of the time.

“What the hell?” I splutter, feeling like a drowned rat. Before I finish speaking, I grab a glass of water off the counter and splash it in his face.

“What the—” he begins as I yank the faucet away from him.

I turn to spray the guy closest to me, which ends up being Wolf.
